Got $1000 or so to spare?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=38095
Its serial number is 555 which the seller claims is "the best serial number", but I beg to differ.....what about 666, 007, 999, 911....? (No, not 311...)

Derek actually went to check that drum out for a person on the board whom wanted to maybe buy it and said it was really flawed. Not worth the 1000.00+ price tag.

His wording is complete desperation.
'It wont go up again' I bet it does!
'Thanks for all the emails' even though nobody has bid?
'my friend loves me playing the vinnie' though i dont sound like him.
'This, the snare vinnie designed' While he recorded with gretsch.
'Its not one of those "stick someones name on" marketing ploys' No, his name was on their for when it goes in the cargo hold of a plane, an expensive name tag, vin doesnt want to lose his fav snare now!
'when its tuned lower you could Swear it sounds 2x's lower' F uck... i just swore! Yes it sounds like a military parade drum to my ears on occassions NOT!
'Your sticks will bounce like no other snare you own' lets hope the check you recieve does the same.
'this snare makes people squint when you play it' could that just be him playing it? I dunno?
These VC's go for $489 in the uk, and they come up now and again. Thats a fair price, his isnt whether there were a 1000 made or not its only a yamaha snare.

It was during the Sting tour and Vinnie was using a Gretsch kit and of course being that Vinnie endorsed Yamaha they did not like that. So, they built him a maple kit to look like a Gretsch kit with small type lugs and said they would make a sig snare too.
Then the bottom dropped out. That's all I know of it form talking with David Vai who was at Yamaha during that time.
Gadd went thru some similar stuff with Yamaha, he did not like having a logo head or did not use a logo for some reason and Yamaha would give him flak for it.

This guy claims he paid $979 for it 10 years ago at West LA Music. That seems a little steep to me.

Just curious... Does anyone know what happened between Vinnie and Yamaha? I've only really seen him on Gretsch stuff.
